The Otero County Electric Education Foundation was established in 1989. Since its inception, a total of $2.07 million in scholarship funds has been awarded to area students for continuing education through the Fall of 2025. The funds for the program are generated from unclaimed and donated patronage capital and an endowment graciously given to the foundation by Edward and Margaret McArthur.
The Board of Trustees also added a new scholarship in 2021, available to students enrolling in the Electric Lineworker Pre-Apprenticeship program at CNM in Rio Rancho. This program helps to train the next generation of electrical linemen who will be tasked with keeping the lights on.
OCEC's membership in Tri-State and Basin Electric Cooperative also allows for other scholarship opportunities for our members. Click below to learn more about the different ways to fund your college education.
