Power Outage Affects OCEC Customers
June 7, 2017
Otero County Electric Cooperative was hit hard by a thunderstorm that swept through Lincoln County last night causing damage to a transmission line. Two structures on the sole-line providing power to both the Capitan and Carrizozo substations were torn down in the high winds that accompanied the rain and hail yesterday afternoon.
OCEC crews have worked through the night to replace the broken poles and downed wire, but encountered some unexpected issues that have caused restoral to take longer than originally expected. Power to over 2,700 members in the Capitan, Carrizozo and Nogal areas is expected to be restored by mid-day today.
